Stella

Stella is a 28 foot Gecat built in Saint Francis by Gecat Marine. Stella is licensed to take 8 people up to 40 miles offshore which enables us to target any fish the Cape has to offer as well as take visitors out on pelagic bird viewing trips or crayfish charters.

Stella is fully equipped with all the latest fishing equipment you could ever wish to use, from ultra light tackle used for dropshot fishing to the big game tackle we use for the yellowfin tuna.

Our skipper - Gavin Taylor

Gavin, is originally from the Eastern Cape where he started fishing in both Saltwater and freshwater. In 2002 Gavin moved to Cape Town to study at UCT and got involved in the fishing here in Cape Town. The bug bit and Gavin stayed in Cape Town to continue fishing. Gavin has fished both recreationally and commercially and is experienced with targeting the various species of fish the Cape has to offer.

One of his best catches was catching a 107kg yellowfin which won the 2007 Captain Morgan challenge and then next is catching Longfin tuna up to 32kgs.

As a keen spearfisherman Gavin has been fortunate enough to shoot yellowfin, longfin and yellowtail off Cape point.

His experience also extends further afield to East Africa where he has run charter boats for both fishing and spearfishing. Come along and let Gavin take you out on a day to remember.

Gavin also a qualified first aider and firefighter and is in the process of getting RYA accredited. In August Gavin will begin his qualification to become a registered Tour Guide with South African Tourism
